Savvy Stockpiling

So if you've been following the blog or if you're new, I challenged myself and my family this month to a tight ($200) budget. I had already done some shopping earlier this week for fresh produce, milk, and bread. I knew before this shopping trip that I would have to do some major planning because there were some pretty good sales on some toiletries that we use daily and I wanted to stock up on those, but also wanted to be able to eat the rest of the month ;)  So since I "grocery" shop at Target and Kroger only, I scoured the ads this week for sales, closely watched coupon blogs, and clipped and organized the coupons carefully.

Total before Coupons: $269.10
Total SPENT: $62.10 (for both stores)
Over a 75% Reduction in costs!!

Need a few of the items... or just curious on how to save? Check out my Kroger shopping list below.  If you are new to the blog you might want to check out the "Coupon Lingo" sheet HERE.

Not familiar with Target Mobile Coupons?
Mobile coupons are Target Store Qs that can be sent to your phone to be used for in-store purchases. These coupons are meant to be used only once but can be stacked with MQs. The terms read “Limit one item or offer per coupon”. If you want to sign up to receive them you can do so HERE. You will need to have an internet-capable phone in order to retrieve the coupons. Keep in mind- text messaging & data charges will apply depending upon your phone’s plan  Check out TOTALLY TARGET WEB PAGE for all of the recent Target match-ups for this upcoming week.

You may have noticed that I "stockpiled" on a few different items:
(And NO we do not eat frozen pizza every night, they were so cheap i couldn't pass up and I know my husband will have friends over for March Madness)
  1. Shaving cream (10)
  2. Old Spice Deodorant (9)
  3. Men's body wash (4)
  4. Frozen Pizzas (9)
  5. Pizza Rolls (6)
  6. Pillsbury Rolls/Biscuits (8)
  7. Excedrin (4)
  8. Uncle Ben's Ready Rice (10)

Thinking about Stockpiling a few items you use Frequently?
~Don't expect to have a filled pantry in one or two shopping trips. Plan for your stockpile to grow over a period of time. Don't put pressure on yourself to hurry up and get a stockpile. If you do this, you will only get frustrated, and may begin to lose interest in the best money saving technique around. It's important to retrain your brain on how you shop. Stockpiling does not break the bank, or your budget..in fact quite the opposite if done right.

~In the first few weeks, plan on purchasing 3-5 items for your stockpile.
~It’s all about shopping with coupons while a product is on sale- and STOCKING UP so you don’t have to buy something when it’s not cheap or free.
**Now there is a difference between a BUY price and a STOCK-UP price.  Here is a resource to help guide you on both of those.
