Pumpkin Rice Krispy Treats!
Well,, my ADD kicked in pretty quick into the Ohio State football game so I decided to start a little baking project that I had been thinking about all week. I already had all of the supplies and these pumpkin Rice Krispy treats are so cute! Wouldn't they be super fun for a harvest party?
Here's what you'll need:
- Rice Krispies Cereal
- Marshmallows (large) 10oz bag
- Butter
- Food coloring (red, yellow, green)
- Frosting for leaves (powered sugar, green food coloring splash of milk)
- Tootsie Rolls
- (Optional, crushed chocolate cookies for bed that pumpkins sit on)
Follow Direction on Rice Krispy Box, add orange food coloring to mixture.
Then coat your hands in butter and roll into balls and place a tootsie roll in the center.
Make green stem icing and ice leaves.
All DONE! Easy and cheap!

Frugal Halloween decorating...
I am so excited to pull all of the decorations out for Halloween! We've already bought our costumes, and my 3.5 year old is begging to hit up the pumpkin patches!
One of the things on our To-do-List this weekend is to build theses Ballard design inspired shelves to go above the new buffet (will post pics soon!) We don't have a fire place (mantel) in our house so I plan on using these shelves to decorate as the seasons change. They seem pretty easy to do and my husband has graciously agreed to take on *most* of the work ;) Unfortunately I am the one in our marriage who seems to always underestimate every project we do (by cost and labor). So I've often said, "c'mon this will only take you a 1/2 hour, you won't miss a minute of the Ohio State game" (when in reality it takes up most of the afternoon). Oops.
Anyway, I've started to brainstorm a really cool Halloween inspired faux "mantel." I saw this FREE Halloween Subway Art Printable, from the The Girls at Eighteen 25's blog and fell in Love! I had it printed in 1-hour at Walmart in the 11x14 size (for around $6.00), and popped it in a frame that I already own. I can't wait to finish the rest of the decorations for theses shelves! I'll share when I do... hopefully by the end of the weekend if everything goes well..hehe.
